Not all items which arrive in the Post room are ready to be delivered immediately to a recipient.
There are instances where items have to be moved to a stock room, an alternate post room, a reception for collection, or maybe to a delivery van or trolley - or indeed other non recipient locations. Therefore by using the Transfer option, items can be scanned together with scanning (as configured) the transfer location, thereby recording the new location of the item(s).

When viewing the POD (proof of delivery) report, any transfers are recorded and show a complete audit trail of received, moved, delivered.

Identifying an item as damaged is an essential part of the post room functions. If an item is received (from courier or internal collection) in a damaged state; do the post room really want to refuse it? (it could be very important) equally do the post room want to accept it and then be liable for any potential damage?

Using the OmniPost PDA application, simply scan the barcode and take a photo with the PDA. The photo(s) are linked to the item and get uploaded to the item record. When viewing the item proof of delivery document, the photograph is present (together with recording the date and time), thereby proving that the item was not damaged whilst in the care of the post room.
